Even more impressive was that it managed to do this without even deploying it's gun. Hahahaha, oh who are we kidding, right? Of course the alien weapon just magically came back to life blew the Sunbeam into bits anyway. After all, the defense system was turned off so the Sunbeam could now land safely. So I sat on the beach for half an hour, smug in knowing that I had managed to avert a tragedy but also knowing that I wouldn't have to build that silly escape pod later. It was only after I had shut down the alien gun building that I went back and checked the radio in order to activate the Sunbeam coming to answer the mayday signal. No more quarentine, no more automatic blast thingy. Instead I went through and completed the rest of the game first, inluding the Sea Emperor ending that leads to the curing of the plague which, in turn, allows the player to go into the alien gun building and cut the power entirely. So I went back and started the game over, only this time I made a point of never checking the radio. Once you've heard the third message from them it starts a half-hour timer and at the end of it the alien gun reveals itself and blows the ship apart in a scipted cinemactic. Rather it is a triggered event wherein the timer only starts after you've listened to a certain number of incoming radio messages. ![]() ![]() Long answer: I noticed that whole situation with the Sunbeam isn't automatic. Can it be done? Can the player prevent the alien weapon from blowing up your rescue ship?
